ONLINE NEY COURSE FOR ALL LEVELS

This ONLINE course will give you a brief introduction to the ‘Ney’ Instrument – one of the main instrument of Ottoman Court /Turkish Classical Music. This practical introductory course will provide participants with a step-by-step guide on how to play this instrument. The Ney has a simple hollow cylinder structure with finger-holes. Neys can vary in size, and each own a different name. The focus for this course will be on the ‘Kız Ney’, the most common size to start with. It will be used by both the instructor and participants during the course.

This ONLINE course will introduce students to the ‘Turkish Style Oud’ – one of the main instruments of Ottoman/Turkish Classical Music. This is a practical introduction to the Turkish side of Oud playing and provides participants with a step-by-step guide to play and read Ottoman/Turkish Classical Music using the Oud. All levels are welcome.

ONLINE ART OF  ILLUMINATION COURSE (COMPLETE BEGINNERS)

This ONLINE 4-week course will cover Ottoman tradition ‘Tezhip’ patterns by artist Nagihan Seymour

Traditional floral motifs (hatai, gonca, penç etc) will be taught, and students will create their own ‘Shamsa’ composition by tracing and painting according to traditional techniques and with the guidance of the instructor. Students will finish their work using traditional painting, outlining and illumination brush techniques.

This ONLINE 4-week course by artist Nagihan Seymour will cover Ottoman tradition ‘Rumi’ patterns. 

In this interactive course, students will learn how to draw rumi motifs and apply principles of design in a composition. They will draw and paint different rumi motifs such as basic rumi, closed form rumi, rumi knots and rumi headings in classic Tezhip “Shamsa” form and will finish their work using traditional painting, outlining and illumination brush techniques.
